Travel Bottles

Travel Bottles a Must Have Item

With more and more people taking to the air these days as their primary means of travel, and regional airlines are limiting our carry on baggage size due to smaller commuting aircraft. It is important that we are able to pack efficiently and smartly by using a few simple techniques. Throughout this blog I will introduce various ideas and tips to make your travel easier. As a seasoned regular traveller, I visit up to seven or eight countries a month, I will make suggestions  that have made traveling easier and more comfortable for me. In todays post I will explain the reason why Travel Bottles are an essential item for today’s traveler.

Three Good Reasons to Use Travel Bottles

There are three very good reasons why I use travel bottles and the first is so that I don’t have a nasty surprise waiting for me at the destination when I open my bag. Regardless of whether your bag is checked or carry on it will be subjected to the same increased pressure due to high altitude flight. Sometimes the particular liquid’s or gel’s container can withstand this pressure but more often than not it won’t. I have seen some just leak and some have actually exploded. Descent quality travel bottles will eliminate this problem completely giving you piece of mind for your flight.

Back in August of 2006 a terrorist bomber was caught trying to smuggle liquid explosive onto an airliner. Since that time the TSA in the United States and most other countries around the world have adopted rules for the amount of liquids, gels and aerosols that can be carried onboard an aircraft. Remember this rule is only for carry on luggage and not checked luggage. For business travelers who do not want the inconvenience of waiting for luggage at the carousel, or for travelers needing to take medicine or even moisturising cream. This means you!

It is called the 3-1-1 rule. You may only carry 3 ounce bottles (100 ml) or smaller in 1 quart size zip top bag per 1 traveller.  This is in order to reduce the volume of liquids, gels and aerosols in order to eliminate the threat of them being used as an explosive device

The final reason why I use travel bottles is for efficiency. If I force myself to take the time to transfer what I need to take with me from the original large bottles into my smaller Travel Bottles then I am saving a lot of space. I can either travel lighter or take something else with me that I couldn’t normally take. Remember that carry on luggage is weighed today the same as checked baggage is.

As a final tip be sure to purchase travel bottles that are of reasonable quality, there are many cheap brands available which may or may not survive your trips. At the very least ensure that those you buy are leak and shatter proof and it is imperative that they show the volume imprinted on the side. This one tip could save you a big hassle at the security checkpoint on your next flight.
